Differences between floating ball valve and fixed ball valve and their characteristics

1 Difference between floating ball valve and fixed ball valve

1.1 the ball of the floating ball valve is floating. Under the action of medium pressure, the ball can produce a certain displacement and press tightly on the sealing surface of the outlet end to ensure the sealing of the outlet end.

1.2 the floating ball valve has the advantages of small volume, light weight, simple structure and good sealing performance, but the load of the working medium borne by the ball is transmitted to the outlet sealing ring. Therefore, it is necessary to consider whether the sealing ring material can withstand the working load of the ball medium.

2 Characteristics and performance of floating ball valve

2.1 characteristics and performance of floating ball valve:

Small volume, light weight, simple structure, the ball has free floating function, which can better ensure the sealing; The ball valve uses a ball with a circular through hole as the opening and closing part. Driven by the valve stem, the ball rotates 0 ~ 90 degrees around the center of the valve stem to complete the opening and closing function; The utility model has the characteristics of compact structure and fast switching, and can close the valve and cut off the pipeline medium by turning 90 degrees; The diameter of the sphere channel is the same as that of the pipeline, with small flow resistance and large flow capacity; The valve rod is a bottom mounted type, which eliminates the accident of valve rod penetration and ensures the safety of use.

The ball of the fixed ball valve is fixed and does not move after being pressurized. Fixed ball valves are equipped with floating valve seats. After being subjected to medium pressure, the valve seats move, so that the sealing ring is tightly pressed on the ball to ensure sealing. Bearings are usually installed on the upper and lower shafts of the ball, with small operating torque. It is suitable for high-pressure and large-diameter valves.

2.2 characteristics and performance of fixed ball valve

Fixed ball valve is applicable to various medium and high pressure pipelines. It is used to cut off or connect the medium in the pipeline. Different materials are selected. It can be applied to water, steam, oil, liquefied gas, natural gas, gas, nitric acid, acetic acid, oxidizing medium, urea and other media. It is widely used in petrochemical, power and water conservancy industries. The common driving modes of fixed ball valves are worm gear drive, manual, electric and pneumatic. Most fixed ball valves are flanged, but there are also welded fixed ball valves.

to make a long story short:

The general differences between fixed ball valve and floating ball valve are as follows:

1. Floating ball valve - the valve core ball rotates freely between the two valve seat sealing rings with the help of the valve stem.

2. Fixed ball valve - a ball valve with a floating ball and an elastic movable sleeve seat connected with the valve stem and rotating around the center of the valve stem.
